7th Annual Hillsborough Chase Thanksgiving Project

Hello Hillsborough, NJ Neighbors!

It’s that time of year where we come together as a community to give thanks for how fortunate we are and to support our neighbors in Somerset County who are less fortunate with the Hillsborough Chase Thanksgiving Project (HCTP).

A LITTLE ABOUT THE HCTP: Our goal this year, in coordination with the Foodbank, is to provide five Somerset County families in need with everything they could hope for in a Thanksgiving feast that they will prepare in their home. We will receive anonymous information on the families and their requests so we can customize each meal to make it special for their families. ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We hope to deliver the supplies November 19 (the Sunday before Thanksgiving).

HOW YOU CAN HELP:

Youth Team Leaders/Co-Leaders (5+ needed - 13 years and older): With the great enthusiasm of our Hillsborough Chase youth in past years – we are letting them lead the teams this year! We will have a total of 5 teams again this year – each team is assigned to one family in need. A Youth Team Leader/Co-Leader is a vital role to the success of our project as each team will be responsible for the “grocery list” of their assigned family. The Team Leader will ensure that each item on the list is accounted for with a donation from someone on their team. Youth Team Leaders will receive a certificate for hours of volunteerism from The Foodbank Network of Somerset County.

Donors: As part of a HCTP team you will volunteer to donate one or more items on your “adopted family’s” grocery list or provide a gift certificate to ShopRite or Walmart and ensure it is delivered to your team leader by their requested due date.

Donate Your Free ShopRite or Weis Turkey: If you will be away for the holidays or if you can spare your Rewards Turkey or Turkey Breast from ShotRite or Weis - please donate your turkey to us and we'll make sure a family other than our five receive the donation.

Donate a ShopRite Gift Card: Help a family outside of our five afford their Thanksgiving meal by providing a gift card to ShopRite. All cards will be directly given to the families in need.

***If your teen or child is looking for community service hours or volunteerism for their college applications, this is a great opportunity and we would welcome them as part of our project. In addition to Team Leaders, we will need “runners” to get donations from the Team Member to the Team Leader, Envelope Labeling and Decorating, Organizing, and more. All volunteers will receive a certificate for hours of volunteerism from The Foodbank Network of Somerset County.
